Job summary

Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company in Northampton is seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our maintenance team. You will work on a rotating shift pattern (4 on, 4 off, 2 days/2 nights) and report to the Maintenance Manager, focusing on asset reliability and performance across production lines.

The role requires a recognised mechanical engineering qualification and experience in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role in FMCG/manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Knowledge of mechanical/electrical maintenance practices.
• Ability to work safely and adhere to compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Improve performance and reduce downtime across production assets.
• Diagnose and repair faults using mechanical/electrical skills.
• Ensure safety, electrical and environmental standards are followed (LOTO, etc.).
• Maintain site utilities and electrical distribution systems for reliable operation.
• Mentor apprentices and support continuous improvement programs (5S, Kaizen).
• Perform predictive maintenance activities including vibration analysis and thermography.

Working Hours: Average of 42 hours per week. Working on a 4 on (2 days and 2 nights), 4 off rotating shift pattern.

About the role:

If you are interested in joining our journey, we are nor recruiting for a Multi Skilled Engineer. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, improving and optimising our production assets. You’ll collaborate across engineering and production teams to keep our operation running safely, efficiently and reliably.

Role Responsibilities:

• System optimisation — Work with engineering teams to improve performance, reduce downtime and drive technical improvements.
• Mechanical & electrical maintenance — Diagnose and repair faults using advanced tools and techniques.
• Safety & compliance — Ensure full adherence to LOTO, electrical safety and environmental standards, maintaining detailed CBM records.
• Infrastructure support — Maintain site utilities and electrical distribution systems to ensure reliable operation.
• Team collaboration — Partner with production teams and mentor apprentices, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Lean practices — Support 5S, Kaizen and Autonomous Maintenance initiatives.
• Condition monitoring — Conduct vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound and other predictive maintenance activities.

Experience and Key Attributes:

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)
• Experience in a multi‑skilled maintenance role within FMCG, manufacturing or industrial environments
• Advantageous: certifications in welding, hydraulics, pneumatics or rotating machinery
• Experience using CMMS systems
