About the Role

Position: Multi Skilled Engineer

Location: Leeming Bar, Northallerton

Salary: £45-£50k (dependent on experience) plus overtime

This is an exceptional opportunity for a fully trained Multi Skilled Engineer with relevant hands-on experience to join an outstanding and growing organization within the food industry.

Role Responsibilities
  • Carrying out fault finding, diagnosis, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Electronics repair experience is an advantage.
  • Attending and performing tasks on planned and unplanned maintenance of high-speed production machinery such as servo-controlled P&P systems, filling machines, flow wrappers, check weighers, shrink and stretch wrappers, etc.
  • This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Ensuring smooth operation of factory machinery.
  • Responding promptly to breakdowns.
  • Applying engineering skills to ensure products meet customer specifications, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Proactively seeking engineering improvements and adopting techniques that promote a quality environment in production.
Candidate Requirements
  • Time-served hands-on engineering experience, ideally within the Food, Dairy, or Beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and always seeking better, simpler, and more effective maintenance methods.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with production teams during breakdowns and assist in decision-making to restore line operation swiftly.
  • Understanding of all tasks, processes, and activities related to ice cream production to ensure effective maintenance.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to teamwork, with a focus on customer service towards the factory.
Shift Pattern
  • Week 1: Mon & Tue 7-7 days, Wed & Thu 7-7 nights
  • Week 2: Wed & Thu 7-7 days, Fri, Sat & Sun 7-7 nights
  • Week 3: Fri, Sat & Sun 7-7 days, Mon & Tue 7-7 nights (then back to week 1)

There is an expectation to stay for a paid handover at the end of shifts.
