Job description

Due to continued growth, we have a new opportunity available for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our client, one of Europe's leading privately-owned food processors, at their site in Penston, Glasgow.

Job Details

Location: Penston

Salary: £43,000 to £47,000 DOE

Hours of Work: 2-week Panama shift - 05:30-17:30 / 11:00-23:00

The Role

As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will possess strong technical knowledge and be recognized as the shift expert in at least one area of the factory or machinery type. Working as part of your shift team, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment OEE and minimising downtime. You will report to the Engineering Manager/Assistant Managers but will receive daily guidance from your Engineering Supervisor regarding your activities.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate relevant engineering competencies, especially with Packing Machinery such as Proseal, Mondini, Multivac, and related equipment.
  • Record and log maintenance requests and fault repairs, attend breakdowns, and perform repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide progress reports to Engineering Management/Supervisor.
  • Proactively complete scheduled work plans, start-up checks, etc., in a timely manner.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned by the Engineering Management team.
  • Comply with health, safety, and food safety legislation.
  • Liaise with the production team to ensure customer supply.
Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have at least an ONC/NVQ in an engineering-related discipline, with an 18th edition qualification being advantageous. Ideally, you will have completed an apprenticeship or equivalent formal training in installation and maintenance, including practical experience. You should be an excellent communicator, able to take direction and challenge professionally, with proven experience in planned maintenance systems, breakdown repairs, installations, and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
