Job summary

Barfoots of Botley in the UK is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join our engineering team. You will help maximise equipment uptime through preventive and reactive maintenance, diagnosing faults and carrying out root cause analysis in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

With a mechanical or electrical bias, you will maintain production equipment, respond to breakdowns, improve plant performance and contribute to continuous improvement projects across the site.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative.
• Electrical control panel troubleshooting experience is advantageous.
• Experience with inverters and PLC systems.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience.
• Development of PPM programmes.
• Experience in FMCG or fresh food manufacturing.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Production Support Engineer to join our busy Engineering team at Barfoots.

Engineering plays a vital role in keeping our production operation running safely, efficiently and reliably. Working closely with Production, you’ll help maximise equipment uptime through a combination of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, while identifying opportunities to improve plant performance.

With either a mechanical or electrical bias, you’ll be confident diagnosing faults, responding to machinery breakdowns and carrying out root cause analysis within a fast‑paced FMCG or manufacturing environment.

You’ll also play an active role in continuous improvement, helping us increase efficiency, reduce downtime and improve energy and cost performance across the site.

Shift pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off | 6am–6pm

What We’re Looking For

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
• Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing or production environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively on your own initiative
• Electrical control panel troubleshooting experience would be an advantage
• Desirable Experience
