Job summary

Mativ Bolton site is seeking a multi skilled engineer to support a range of production lines, focusing on mechanical/electrical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics. You will work in a 4-person team reporting to the Maintenance Leader, and contribute to improving machine reliability, uptime and OEE.

The role is day shift, averaging 40 hours per week, with responsibility for routine maintenance, root cause analysis, fault diagnosis and implementing improvements across older and newer equipment.

Qualifications

• Approved and formal apprenticeship in a relevant skill area.
• Experience in a production/factory environment with mechanical maintenance.
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and support of production equipment to improve uptime.

Overview

Working within an engineering team and closely supporting the Manufacturing Maintenance Leader, you will support a mix of engineering machinery production lines involving mixing, converting and coating, as well as ancillary areas, with a mix of both old and new equipment. The role is based at our Bolton site and the position reports into the Maintenance Leader who reports directly into the Site Engineering Manager. The principal responsibility is to provide expertise in Mechanical/electrical systems across a broad range of hydraulic, pneumatic, systems and to complete minor projects in order to improve machine reliability, flexibility and uptime (OEE).

You will work a predominantly day shift (Averaging a 40 hour week) and provide ongoing support as part of a 4 man engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and support and improvement of production equipment and machinery.
• The desire to complete and develop the preventative maintenance tasks.
• Involved with Root cause analysis of mechanical and electrical breakdowns in order to identify and implement the best solution and prevent future issues.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults in equipment and carry out any necessary repairs, ensuring minimal engineering downtime and recurrence prevention.
• Supporting the introduction of new equipment, machinery and ways of working.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations, and helping us to achieve our zero accidents target.
• Ensure high standards in health, safety and hygiene are adhered to at all times and best practice methods are modelled.
• Ensure planned projects are delivered to specification and to agreed service requirements.
• Through PPM programme, identify additional works required.
• Diagnose, fault-find, improve systems, monitor and assess ongoing machine/facility performance.
• Due to increased productivity and product range the role will be focused on support/improvements, with an aim to develop more robust worthwhile PPM schedules.
• Understand and meet ongoing business requirements and develop effective working relationships.
• Demonstrate a fair, consistent and courteous attitude in all dealings at all levels.
• Ensure that all issues are reported to the Maintenance Leader..
• Proactivity is promoted with the department and must be regularly demonstrated.
• Ensure prompt and accurate communication of issues and resolution is provided to internal customers (Shift Managers, Planning personnel and Operators).

• Approved and formal apprenticeship served in relevant skill area and practical experience within industry.
• Good Experience in a Mechanical maintenance based role, to include Mechanical fitting,welding,turning,milling, bearing changes etc
• Experience of working in a production/factory environment
• Sound knowledge of Health & Safety.
• Awareness of risk assessment and working safety with equipment
• Ability to measure, work to plan (method statements), read technical diagrams and communicate, present and report technical information as appropriate.
• Work in a methodical, rigorous and persistent manner, with highly organised, diligent and structured logic.
• Demonstrate flexibility and efficiency in responding to changing business requirements
• Demonstrate an ability to work under pressure. Take ownership of problems and deal with them to their conclusion
• A flexible attitude to working as this role is an interesting and varied position.

Additional desirable skills, experience and qualifications:

• Knowledge of mixing, coating and conversion machinery
• Understanding of SAP PM software would be highly advantageous
• Understanding of creation of a Maintenance Roadmap to improve effectiveness
