Job summary

Smurfit Westrock's West Auckland site is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to maintain and improve critical manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced environment. You will perform planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and support new installations to keep production reliable and efficient.

The role emphasizes safety, quality and continuous improvement, with opportunities to contribute to major engineering projects and site performance enhancements.

Qualifications

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience within manufacturing or production environments.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience of planned preventive maintenance systems.
• A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We're looking for a talented Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering Team at West Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where no two days are the same, and where you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact on safety, reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a rotating 3-shift pattern:

• Days: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 14:30
• Afternoons: Monday to Friday, 14:30 - 22:00
• Nights: Monday to Thursday, 22:00 - 07:00

Flexibility to support business and operational requirements is essential.

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for an enthusiastic engineer with strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
• Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience within manufacturing or production environments
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems
• A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

It would be great if you also have experience of:

• FMCG, packaging or automated manufacturing environments
• Welding and fabrication
• CMMS systems such as SAP
• Continuous improvement and reliability-focused maintenance practices.
