As a Multi Skilled Decorator, a typical day might include:
- Undertaking all types of painting and decorating, patch plastering, and basic wall tiling duties within Acis housing stock and other properties as instructed. Works may involve emergency and scheduled repairs, as well as extensive renovation works.
- Applying mould growth treatments as per manufacturer’s specifications.
- Identifying and resolving root causes of damp and mould.
- Ensuring the availability of correct materials to complete work to standard.
- Liaising with tenants and line managers regarding work progress and timing.
- Working proactively with a positive attitude and using initiative.
- Using ladders, scaffolding, and hydraulic platforms when needed.
- Fitting materials and components in confined spaces and awkward postures.
- Working alone in tenants' homes, including at heights and in empty properties.
- Booking appointments efficiently to meet performance targets.
- Carrying out local risk assessments as required.
- Completing training and qualifications as needed.
- Following current codes of practice and building regulations.
- Updating PDA in real-time and communicating with customers.
Some of the experience/skills required:
- City and Guilds I, II or NVQ Level 2 in a trade such as Painting and Decorating or equivalent.
- Experience in repairs and maintenance within tenanted properties.
- Understanding of construction, legislation, health and safety, manual handling, working at heights, etc.
- Experience working in social housing.
- Ability to plan work to ensure timely completion.
- Skills in all decoration works, including damp and mould treatments.
Desirable but not essential:
- Level 2-3 in understanding Damp and Mould in domestic dwellings.
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting and Decorating.
- Qualified or willing to train in non-licensed asbestos removal.
- Adaptability and experience with new ways of working.
- Knowledge of Awaabs Law.
