Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a seasoned Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer (Mechanical/Plumbing bias) for a 3-month contract based in the London Borough of Camden. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance across school, community, and corporate properties, with mentoring duties for a Plumbing Apprentice.

Required qualifications include NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Plumbing or Building Services, plus substantial experience with HVAC, pumps, AHU, and water treatment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Plumbing or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in commercial plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
• Proficiency in heating systems, pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, calorifiers and mechanical plant equipment.
• Experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently in occupied buildings.
• Experience using CAFM systems and mobile technology.
• Valid Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to mentor apprentices.
• Unvented Hot Water Qualification.
• Basic electrical fault-finding; awareness of BMS.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned preventive maintenance and address reactive repairs on plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in commercial plumbing, heating, and mechanical plant systems.
• Maintain components such as pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, calorifiers, booster sets, valves and other mechanical plant.
• Oversee domestic hot and cold water services.
• Service TMVs and assist with water hygiene and Legionella control activities.
• Conduct minor installation and remedial works.
• Update job records using CAFM systems and mobile devices.
• Perform dynamic risk assessments and adhere to permit-to-work procedures.
• Maintain the company vehicle, tools and equipment.
• Mentor and support a Plumbing Apprentice.

Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer (Mechanical/Plumbing Bias) – 3 Month Contract

Location: London Borough of Camden, 5 Pancras Square, London, N1C 4AG

Contract: 3 Month Contract (Temporary to Permanent Opportunity)

Hours: 36 Hours Per Week (excluding 1-hour unpaid lunch break)

Summary

Camden Facilities Management is on the lookout for a seasoned Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer with a focus on mechanical and commercial plumbing. This role involves maintaining a variety of facilities, including schools, children's centers, community buildings, and corporate properties throughout the borough. The engineer will be responsible for conducting planned preventative maintenance, addressing reactive repairs, diagnosing faults, and performing minor installations to ensure all building services systems are safe and efficient. Additionally, the role includes mentoring a Plumbing Apprentice for about three days a week, offering a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about guiding and nurturing talent.
