Mears Group PLC is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to join the team in Croydon. You will carry out a variety of trade works in void and tenanted properties, delivering high-quality repairs across multiple domestic trades.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, independent working ability, and a focus on customer service. Excellent health and safety practices are essential, with tools, vans, and fuel card provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic repairs across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
• Ability to work independently in occupied homes with strong fault-finding skills.
• Follows health and safety practices and can record work via handheld devices.

Responsabilités

• Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across tenanted social housing properties.
• Replace/repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames.
• Install/adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors.
• Repair/replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges.
• Record job details and materials used; ensure high-quality finishes.

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team in Croydon you will be carrying out a variety of property maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, plastering, brickwork, tiling, silicone/mastic works, groundworks and minor plumbing in Void properties. The role requires a delivering high-quality repairs and installations across domestic properties.

Duties

• Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across tenanted social housing properties
• Replacing or repairing skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames
• Installing and adjusting kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors
• Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges
• Identifying and fixing minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks
• Carrying out patch plastering and making good, damaged walls or ceilings
• Completing wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
• Painting and decorating to a professional finish following repair works
• Ensuring all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
• Working in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy
• Reporting any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope
• Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes
• Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
• Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

Role Criteria

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
• Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
