Job summary

EQUANS is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for the Barnsley Schools contract. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) focuses on planned, reactive and preventative maintenance across 13 primary schools within a PFI framework, ensuring safety, compliance and reliable facilities for staff and pupils.

You will carry out mechanical, electrical and fabric maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and contribute to statutory compliance, using CAFM to record tasks, while collaborating with the Technical

Qualifications

• A full driving licence is essential for this role.
• First Aid at Work and maintenance experience are desirable.
• Experience in joinery/building and City & Guilds level apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience in a PFI environment and Legionella awareness advantageous.
• IOSH Working Safely and Enhanced DBS are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, reactive and preventative maintenance across school facilities.
• Maintain mechanical, electrical and fabric services in 13 primary schools under PFI.
• Respond to breakdowns and call-outs with timely, compliant repairs.
• Record all PPM activities in CAFM and close out with accurate data.
• Ensure safety, risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work compliance.
• Support lifecycle replacement projects and on-call duties.
