Job summary

Brhw in the North West is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our Property & Maintenance team. The role covers multiple residential and supported living services across the North West, focusing on keeping care environments safe, functional and welcoming.

You will perform low-level maintenance, basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and safety checks, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role with a £35,000 annual salary and mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, caretaker, or handyman roles.
• Basic plumbing, joinery, painting and decorating skills.
• Ability to work independently across multiple locations.
• Health & Safety awareness in care settings.
• Basic IT literacy for logging tasks.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Carry out low-level building maintenance tasks across various Blue Ribbon services.
• Respond to general maintenance requests including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and minor electrical work (non-certified).
• Conduct regular inspections and safety checks on lighting, fixtures, fittings, doors and furniture.
• Complete preventive maintenance and escalate larger or recurring issues as needed
• Ensure safe handling, storage and use of tools and materials in line with Health & Safety standards.
• Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to schedule tasks with minimal disruption to care services.
• Maintain accurate records of work carried out, materials used, and any ongoing issues.
• Support with additional duties such as assembling furniture, clearing external areas and assisting with minor refurbishments.
