A leading company is looking for a Maintenance Technician to handle both planned and reactive maintenance at ASDA stores in Bedfordshire. The role involves various trades including plumbing, joinery, and general maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Ideal candidates will be physically fit, proactive, and capable of working independently, with a background in trades preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor planned and reactive maintenance at ASDA stores.
• Assist General Maintenance Technician with minor works.
• Unblock drains and repair leaking taps.
• Perform basic plant room housekeeping checks and conduct fire alarm tests.

Job Description:

Job Purpose

• Carry out minor planned and reactive maintenance works at ASDA stores to pre-determined standards efficiently and cost-effectively, while complying with the Company Health and Safety policy.
• Work as part of the store team, communicating with site colleagues and management to provide general maintenance (plumbing, joinery, painting).
• Complete and close reactive jobs and PPMs via Help Desk on your City supplied device/tablet.
• Log all jobs for each request via the agreed Asda/City protocol.

Reactive Maintenance

Building

• Assist the General Maintenance Technician with minor works.
• Replace PVC strip curtains.
• Perform low-level cladding and maintenance.
• Conduct internal and external store walk-round inspections.

Plumbing

• Unblock drains, urinals, toilets, and sinks.
• Repair leaking taps and washers.
• Maintain sinks, urinals, toilets, and drains.

Joinery

• Repair walls, floors, and fittings.
• Repair and replace ironmongery and hardware.

General

• Hang banners, pictures, and notice boards.
• Move furniture and equipment.
• Repair furniture and fabrics.
• Complete ad hoc assigned works as qualified and authorized.

Planned Maintenance

• Perform basic plant room housekeeping checks.
• Carry out in-store case cleaning as per schedule.
• Conduct weekly fire alarm call point testing.
• Perform water temperature checks and low-usage outlet flushing per L8 regulations.
• Monthly Critical Store Validation (CSV checks).
• Monthly Hand Pallet Truck checks.
