Job summary

New City College is seeking a dedicated Multi-Sensory Support Worker to assist students with deaf, hearing, visual, and multi-sensory impairments within our Supported Learning team.

You will provide direct and indirect support to enable access to the curriculum, use BSL and assistive technologies, and help students develop independence and life skills in an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Holds Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or is working towards it.
  • Experience supporting individuals with sensory impairments, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of challenges and support needs for hearing and visual impairments.
  • Passionate about inclusion and empowering students to achieve independence and success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build positive relationships.
  • Organised, adaptable and able to work in a collaborative team.
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate smooth transitions into college life and encourage positive interaction with peers and staff.
  • Deliver and promote sensory awareness training and guidance across the college.
  • Provide communication and mobility support during trips, work experience placements and college events.
  • Attend student reviews, EHCP meetings and team meetings, contributing to student progress and support plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and administrative documentation.

Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Multi-Sensory Support Worker to join our Supported Learning team. In this rewarding role, you will provide specialist support to students who are deaf, partially hearing, visually impaired and/or multi-sensory impaired, enabling them to fully access their learning and achieve their potential. Working closely with students, tutors and support staff, you will help create an inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence and successful progression.
