Job summary

Caterpillar in Desford, Leicestershire, is seeking a Multi-Line Assembler to join the production team. You will assemble parts and components to build Building Construction Products, working across several stations and adhering to lean manufacturing and 5S/TPM practices.

Role requires hands-on assembly skills, ability to read procedures, and willingness to work a multi-shift pattern. Competitive salary (£28,900 rising to £30,450) plus benefits and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy.
• Initiative and strong communication, interpersonal & organisation skills
• The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment
• The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures
• Attention to detail, able to work with own initiative and self-motivated
• You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organization
• Willing to undertake required training/learning
• Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern

Responsibilities

• Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand/power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area
• Work on several stations to support planned and unplanned absences
• Train/coach Assembly Technician’s/Apprentices to standard work instructions
• Operate BCP built machines where required
• Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work
• Participate in product / process improvement dialogues as required
• Cover the Team Leader’s role in their absence
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM)
• Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and safe working practices
• Adhere to Caterpillar’s Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork, Sustainability
• Undertake training and further learning as required
