Job summary

Cencora is seeking a reliable Driver in Birmingham to ensure safe, timely collection and delivery of pharmaceutical products and medical samples. You will follow routes, complete documentation, and maintain transport records while upholding safety standards and excellent service.

The role requires a full driving licence, prior delivery or logistics experience, and ability to communicate effectively with teams. Training and development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Less than 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, courier operations, delivery services, or related field.
• Certification in dangerous goods awareness or licensure in vehicle operation, cold chain handling, or equivalent is required.
• Licensure to operate the applicable vehicle class.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled collections and deliveries in line with routes and service requirements.
• Verify shipment details and ensure documentation is completed accurately.
• Obtain signatures and proof of delivery, maintaining transport records.
• Transport products, materials and medical samples per regulations and company procedures.
• Communicate delivery updates, delays and shipment issues to appropriate teams.
• Support loading, unloading, packaging and labelling to ensure shipment readiness.
• Monitor vehicle condition and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Assist with airport transfers, hand-to-hand deliveries and schedule adjustments as required.

Summary of Role

We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely collection and delivery of products, materials, and medical samples, ensuring compliance with company procedures and transport regulations. You will play a key part in maintaining service excellence, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring shipments reach their destination securely and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled collections and deliveries in line with assigned routes and service requirements.


• Verify shipment details and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.


• Obtain signatures and proof of delivery, maintaining accurate transport records.


• Transport products, materials, and medical samples in compliance with relevant regulations and company procedures.


• Communicate delivery updates, delays, and shipment issues promptly to the appropriate teams.


• Support loading, unloading, packaging, and labelling activities to ensure shipment readiness.


• Monitor vehicle condition and report maintenance requirements promptly.


• Assist with specialised transport activities, including airport transfers, hand-to-hand deliveries, and adjusted schedule assignments as required.

Skills and Knowledge

• Full valid driving licence with a safe driving record.


• Previous experience in a delivery, transport, or logistics environment.


• Strong understanding of transport and road safety regulations.


• Ability to accurately complete delivery documentation and records.


• Excellent communication and customer service skills.


• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage delivery schedules effectively.


• Ability to work independently and use initiative when resolving issues.


• Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards.

Desirable Experience

• transporting healthcare, pharmaceutical, or medical products.


• Knowledge of temperature-controlled transportation procedures.


• Familiarity with electronic proof of delivery systems.


• Experience working within a regulated distribution environment.


• Basic vehicle maintenance awareness.


• Knowledge of route planning and optimisation.


• Experience handling time-critical deliveries.


• Forklift or manual handling certification.
