Job description

We are offering an exciting opportunity to work in the West of Berkshire Multi-agency Safeguarding Hubs (MASH) as a health practitioner. You will play a vital role working within the multi-agency team helping to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

We welcome applications to work full time, part time or job share arrangements. To be a successful applicant you will hold a specialist community public health nurse qualification or equivalent professional qualification. You will be responsible for gathering, interpreting and sharing relevant health information as part of the MASH enquires, working collaboratively with partners across various agencies. You will interpret and share information necessary to safeguard and promote the welfare of a child.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a team co-located within the local authority, with some flexibility for remote working. You will be working alongside a multi-agency team including police officers. Social workers and others.

You will be required to develop and maintain professional relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including health professionals from a wide range of services and disciplines.

The MASH process includes searching for and collating health information from a range of NHS sources both internal and external. With due regard to patient confidentiality, the MASH health professional will interpret and share the information that is necessary to safeguard and/or promote the welfare of a child. This may involve disclosing relevant information on the parents or carers, ensuring the is processed fairly and proportionately.

You will participate in the MASH multi-agency risk assessment to inform the case management, advising where necessary and challenging decisions when appropriate.

You will disseminate and communicate decisions and appropriate health information to relevant health professionals including the Named Nurse and/or Doctor and for sharing best practice

Evidence of ineffective safeguarding arrangements within or outside of the MASH will be immediately reported to the MASH manager and or the Safeguarding Children's managers for possible escalation.
