MTLS Literary Scouts - Film and TV Scout

MTLS Literary Scouts is looking for a literary scout to head up our film and TV department. We are looking for someone with 3-5 years of experience in scouting, publishing, and/or television.

MTLS scouts the UK and international market for a group of UK TV producers and European publishers.

The role:
- Scouting the UK market for books that would make great TV shows
- Responsibility for tracking and reporting books on submission for film/tv
- Tracking new books from big name authors
- Growing and maintaining relationships with UK and US film agents, UK and international literary agents, and UK editors and publishers
- Liaising with clients, responding to their queries, doing rights checks, taking part in weekly client calls
- Writing up reports on books and pitching them clearly and concisely
- Responsibility for research projects into specific areas clients raise
- Keeping clear and up to date records and notes
- Liaising with our in house readers and editing reader reports

The ideal candidate:
- Is a fast reader with an eye for good material across all genres: literary/upmarket fiction, crime, romance, and non-fiction
- Has an understanding of the UK TV landscape and the UK publishing market
- Has a network of relationships in film/TV and/or publishing and agenting, and a desire to keep growing this
- Is organised and detail orientated
- Ideally has scouting experience, but we would be interested in candidates with relevant TV and/or publishing experience
