About the Role
Nottingham City Council's Multi Systemic Therapy Child Abuse and Neglect (MST CAN) Team are looking for the ideal candidate to join our team as an MST CAN Therapist (1 post)
MST CAN is a home-based intensive treatment for families with children and young people subject to a Child Protection Plan under the category of neglect or physical harm. It is an evidenced based treatment that has been developed to work with families with complex needs, in order to increase safety and keep children at home. MST CAN works to address specific problems and risk factors that brought the family to the attention of Children's Social Care. The major goals are to keep families together, assure that children are safe, prevent abuse and neglect and reduce mental health difficulties experienced by adults and children and increase natural support networks.
MST CAN adopts an intensive approach (numerous sessions per week) and works with families in their natural ecology (their home, school and wider community) rather than in a clinical setting. Appointments are made to meet the family's needs and an MST CAN practitioner is available 24/7 to all families in treatment through an on-call facility.
You will have a professional qualification in a relevant field in Social Work, Mental Health and also have experience and knowledge of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and/or pragmatic behavioural interventions. Full training and continuous professional development in the MST CAN model will be provided. Therapists receive weekly supervision from the MST CAN Manager and clinical consultation from MST Services.
