An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy within the North Norfolk area. Our team provide timely assessment and treatment of MSK conditions to improve our patients' quality of life and maximise their independence.
East Coast Community Healthcare's (ECCH's) friendly and supportive MSK physiotherapy team have a wide skill mix ranging from post graduate MSc/MACP to newly qualified staff and exercise professionals.
Our busy departments treat a wide variety of patients referred from GP's, Consultants, other health care professionals and via our patient self-referral portal.
The MSK Service also includes our MSK Assessment and Triage team and our MSK Foot and Ankle (Biomechanics) team, who are also happy to support specialist skill development. We are part of NoW MSK, who provide MSK services across Norfolk and Waveney.
A variety of assessment and treatment techniques including face to face, telephone, video, web triage and classes are utilised.
A structured training programme is provided by our MSK Service which includes regular in-service training with external speakers from local acute hospitals, clinical supervision within small groups and departmental peer review. Our team offers learning opportunities with Musculoskeletal Assessment and Triage (MATS) and Foot and Ankle services.

Clinical
1. To be responsible for a defined case loadworking without direct supervision. Clinical support is provided through clinical/ professional supervision that takes the form of direct observation ofpractice or formal training / clinical reasoning sessions.
2. To be professionally and legally responsibleand accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management ofpatients in your care.
3. To be responsible for equipment used incarrying out physiotherapy duties, and to adhere to departmental equipmentpolicy, including competence to use equipment and to ensure the safe use ofequipment by others through teaching, training and supervision of practice.
4. To accept clinical responsibility for adesignated caseload of patients, and to organise this efficiently andeffectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To ensure ahigh standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, andsupport more junior staff to do the same.
5. To undertake the comprehensive assessment ofpatients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative andanalytical skills.
6. To formulate an individualised physiotherapymanagement and / or treatment plan, using clinical reasoning skills andutilising a wide range of treatment skills e.g. manual physiotherapytechniques, patient education, electrotherapy, exercise classes, andalternative options in order to formulate a specialised programme of care.
7. To provide spontaneous and planned advice,teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, topromote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a consistentapproach to patient care.
8. To communicate effectively with patients andcarers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding ofconditions. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, andgaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients. Barriersto effective communication will regularly be evident e.g. loss of hearing,altered perception, pain, fear.
9. To assess capacity, gain valid informedconsent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients wholack capacity to consent to treatment.
PROFESSIONAL:
1. To maintain own clinical professionaldevelopment (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments andincorporate them as necessary into your work and to be an active member of thein-service training programme by the attendance and presentation at staffmeetings, tutorials, training sessions, external courses and reflectivepractice.
2. Maintain accurate, comprehensive andup-to-date documentation in line with legal and departmental requirements andcommunicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines inthe form of reports and letters.
3. To communicate effectively and workcollaboratively with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure deliveryof a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service.This will include discussion of patient care and discharge planning. Toprovide teaching / training to other members of the MDT.
4. Training, supervision and performancemanagement of junior staff, technical instructors, assistants and students,with assistance from more senior members of the physiotherapy team. This willinclude the use of formal appraisal documentation.
5. Participate in the staff appraisal scheme andPersonal Development Programme (PDP).
6. Undertake the measurement and evaluation ofyour work and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practiceprojects, audit and outcome measures, either individually or with more seniorphysiotherapists. To make recommendations for change.
7. Demonstrate a sound understanding of ClinicalGovernance and Risk Management and apply to work situation.
ORGANISATIONAL:
1.To deputise forthe Band 7 in terms of operational issues.
2.Be activelyinvolved in the collection of appropriate data and statistics for the use ofthe department.
3.Be aware of theHealth and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies which may berequired to improve the safety of your work area, including the prompt recordingand reporting of accidents to senior staff, and ensuring that equipment used issafe.
4.To comply withthe organisational and departmental policies and procedures and to be involvedin the reviewing and updating as appropriate.
