About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team, on a part time basis, at HMP Lancaster Farms, Lancaster.

This role is part time working 1 day a week (8 hours) with no on-call or weekend work to allow for a strong work life balance!

Salary is between £39,000 - £54,000 pro rata depending on experience.

Secure environments are one of the most challenging but rewarding places for healthcare practitioners to work. If you are looking to develop your skills, learn something new and challenge yourself in a different environment, this could be the role for you. You will be supported by a Regional Team Lead and Clinical Lead, so if the prison environment is new to you, support will be available to help you settle in.

We also believe in a good work life balance, so the hours can be worked flexibly around your other commitments.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide outstanding evidence-based care, listening and acting on patient feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to patients, focusing on both planned and unplanned care.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries. Playing an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.
  • Inspire excellence in your colleagues by being pro-active in the management of MSK conditions and motivating the wider team to identify patients presenting with red flag symptoms. You will forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider prison service.
  • Promote best practice, evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement embedding a culture of reflection and shared learning.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care supporting your clinical and non-clinical colleagues to do a great job.
  • Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner.
  • You will be closely supported and mentored by our Clinical Lead, and this combined with our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training and funding for external clinical courses, you will be provided with an excellent supportive learning environment to continue your professional development.
What we'll look for in you

As a HCPC registered physiotherapist, with proven post-registration experience of assessing and treating MSK conditions in an outpatient setting, you will also have:

  • Experience in assessing and treating some complex and/or chronic presentations.
  • Demonstrable advanced MSK diagnostic and treatment skills
  • Ability to work within the MDT and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • CSP member – desirable
  • Experience of NHS work and knowledge of national pathways – desirable
  • Knowledge of Systm1 - desirable
What you can expect in return
  • Up to £54,000 per annum pro rata depending on experience
  • An extensive range of wellbeing and lifestyle benefits
  • Annual leave (increasing with service) plus bank holidays
  • The support you need to grow in your role, in-service training and funding for external clinical courses and an excellent supportive learning environment to continue your professional development
  • Be part of a forward thinking, innovative health care team
