Job summary

PHL Group is recruiting an MSK First Contact Practitioner (Level 1) to work within community GP settings as the first point of contact for patients with MSK conditions. The role involves autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and onward referral where needed.

The post requires strong clinical reasoning, ability to manage a defined caseload and to provide education to patients and carers to support rehabilitation outcomes.

Qualifications

• MSK clinician with strong diagnostic and management skills.
• Ability to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Skilled in coordinating referrals to diagnostics or secondary care.

Responsibilities

• Independently assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with MSK conditions.
• Formulate individualized treatment plans using advanced clinical reasoning.
• Manage a designated caseload efficiently, prioritising clinical need.
• Provide specialist MSK advice to patients, carers, physiotherapy colleagues and GPs.
• Deliver patient education to support understanding and engagement.
• Use advanced manual therapy skills and analytical approaches for complex cases.
• Coordinate referrals for diagnostics or secondary care when required.
• Maintain accurate, compliant clinical records.
• Communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation outcomes.
• Assess capacity, obtain consent and work within professional frameworks.
• Contribute to MDT training, teaching and clinical development.
• Participate in CPD programme and represent the organisation when required.
