Job summary

NHS Lothian in Edinburgh is seeking an MSK Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner to work within an Edinburgh GP practice, delivering first contact MSK triage and expert assessment as part of a physiotherapy service.

You will provide high-level clinical reasoning, manage red flags, and progress patients toward appropriate investigations or referrals with a focus on patient-centred care. The role is full-time (36 hours) with potential for pro-rata part-time arrangements.

Qualifications

• MSc/advanced practice development planned to support MSK triage
• Ability to conduct safe and effective triage within GP settings
• Experience with red flag screening and differential diagnosis

Responsibilities

• Provide MSK triage and initial assessment for GP patients.
• Act as MSK expert resource within GP practice team.
• Deliver brief interventions and self-management advice.
• Refer for investigations or onward referrals as clinically indicated.
