Job summary

The University of Birmingham Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking four Doctoral Candidates for the SurPhase MSCA Doctoral Network. Each Research Fellow I will undertake a 36-month doctoral project, contributing to phase-change heat transfer research and related training across a multidisciplinary, international network.

The posts include a fixed annual salary of £49,747 with potential allowances and opportunities for secondments.

Qualifications

• Extensive research experience and scholarship within subject area.
• Ability to plan, design and coordinate research activities.
• Experience in knowledge transfer and engagement with external partners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out research with measurable outcomes.
• Publish results in journals and conferences.
• Supervise PhD students and contribute to department leadership.
• Undertake planned secondments with partners in the SurPhase network.
• Participate in network-wide training and dissemination activities.
• Prepare research outputs including papers and reports.
