Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a skilled UAV Maintenance Technician (MRO) to support maintenance, modification, testing, and operational readiness of our UAV fleet at Llanbedr.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while collaborating with Engineering and R&D.

This role offers an early shift (6:00am–2:00pm), ongoing training, and career growth within a dynamic UAV specialist.

Qualifications

  • Proven fault-finding in mechanical or electrical domains.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing docs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic software tools.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned fleet modifications and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose, plan, and complete unscheduled maintenance and repairs.

UAV Maintenance Technician

Hours: 6:00am to 2:00pm

Location: Llanbedr

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive UAV Maintenance Technician (MRO Technician) to support the maintenance, modification, testing, and operational readiness of our unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fleet. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced vehicle technician looking to work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-growing and innovative environment.

You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance activities, supporting flight operations, conducting fault diagnosis and repairs, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Support
  • Carry out planned fleet modifications and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose, plan, and complete unscheduled maintenance and repairs efficiently.
  • Support post-manufacture product development modifications in collaboration with Engineering and R&D teams.
  • Perform ground testing for quality assurance, fault diagnosis, and system verification.
  • Rectify faults identified during testing and maintenance activities.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing packs, and technical documentation.
Flight Operations Support
  • Provide ground handling, refuelling, and maintenance support to flying operations.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company procedures, aviation regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with UAV Ground Control, air traffic control, and operational teams when required.
  • Obtain permits and approvals for operations in restricted airspace where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of flight, maintenance, modification, and incident activities.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
  • Uphold documentation, quality, and compliance standards across all activities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Stay current with developments in UAV technology, aviation regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

About You
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Experience as a vehicle technician within the aviation, automotive, rail, or marine sectors.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical/electronic fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
  • Combined mechanical and electrical/electronic diagnostic expertise.
  • Experience using ERP or project management software.
  • Experience reading MCAD and ECAD drawings.

Essential Requirements
  • Full, clean driving licence with the ability to drive C1, D1 and D1E vehicle categories.
