MRICS/FRICS Residential Building Surveyor (L1, L2, and L3 work) - York

Latymer Search is assisting a reputable, independent national Chartered Surveying Practice. They are hiring across multiple locations in England, including York, with a team of 85-100 property professionals and a surveying team of 20-25.

The role involves mainly L1, L2, and L3 Building surveying work, including secured lending valuation work. A Registered Valuer certificate is required.

Likely Offerings:
  1. Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, based on role, location, skills, knowledge, and experience. Plus, uncapped commission of 10% of individual net billing, paid monthly.
  2. OTE: Additional £15,000 - £25,000, with a total potential of approximately £80,000 - £85,000 including car allowance and bonus.
  3. Benefits: Car allowance (£5,000/monthly or 45p per mile alternative), fuel reimbursement (16p/mile), 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, birthday off, and four well-being days.
  4. Healthcare: Private healthcare and dental after 90 days, with family options at preferential rates.
  5. Pension: Enrolment in a defined contribution scheme after 90 days, with a minimum 8% contribution, including employer contributions and investment options.
  6. Professional Development: Coverage of subscription fees for professional bodies (e.g., RICS) and ongoing CPD support.
Additional Information:
  • The surveyor operates on a fee-based system with annual billing targets between £175K-£200K, approximately £800/day.
  • Turnaround times: L2 Home Survey – 2-3 days; Level 3 – 5 days.
  • Average patch radius: 40 miles from home address.
  • Reporting tools include Core Logic, Go Report, Valos, Quest.
  • Average fee per report: £350 - £2000.
  • Clients include panel lenders, secondary lenders, private clients, housing associations.
