Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board invites applications for a Principal Clinical Computer Scientist (MRI). The role focuses on MRI computing, AI and imaging informatics, developing computational tools, and guiding data workflows across Wales.

You will lead projects in collaboration with MRI physicists, radiographers and clinicians, driving clinical software initiatives. The post involves research, service development and supervision, with strong links to Swansea University and other NHS

Qualifications

• Honours degree and MSc in a relevant computing, scientific or engineering discipline.
• HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
• Advanced knowledge of Clinical Scientific Computing, MRI computing, imaging informatics, software development, digital safety and healthcare data standards.
• Knowledge of legislation, governance, quality systems, software lifecycle methodologies and scientific programming (Python).
• Experience of MRI computing, scientific software development and digital innovation within healthcare or research environments.
• Professional bodies membership (IPEM/BCS) or equivalent.
• Teaching qualification (FHEA).
• PhD or equivalent research experience.
• MRI scanner, pulse-sequence, MATLAB or advanced MRI algorithm development experience.
• Experience leading research projects or securing funding.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in MRI computing, AI, imaging informatics, and clinical software.
• Support MRI services via development of computational tools and data workflows.
• Lead projects with MRI physicists, radiographers and clinicians.
• Contribute to translation of computational technologies into clinical practice.
• Collaborate with Swansea University and NHS/academic partners.
