Job description

What will I be doing?

You will operate loading shovels, FLTs, and tele-handlers across the site, loading various vehicles such as curtain-sided vehicles, shipping containers, and bulk haulage walking floors.

The role involves:

  1. Safely and efficiently operating fixed machinery, such as bailing machines.
  2. Completing pre-operational safety and operator checks.
  3. Performing daily checks and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant and equipment.
  4. Ensuring waste deliveries comply with site licenses and completing related paperwork.
  5. Inspecting incoming products according to waste acceptance criteria and reporting non-compliant loads.
  6. Directing customer vehicles to disposal areas and assisting with off-loading.
  7. Ensuring compliance with export requirements, including photos, paperwork, and container seals.
  8. Supporting sampling operatives in collecting output samples.
  9. Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to company and local procedures.
  10. Assisting with end-of-shift clean-ups and plant downtime activities.
  11. Contributing to lean and 5S activities to keep the workplace organized and efficient.
  12. Working as part of a team to ensure legal health, safety, and welfare standards are met.
  13. Performing any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

What are the requirements?

We seek an enthusiastic team player to join our current site team, aiming to exceed operational standards.

You will require:

  1. Experience as a plant operator with relevant CITB/CPCS/NPORS certification or equivalent; training can be provided for suitable candidates.
  2. A flexible approach to cover holidays and sickness if needed.
  3. A safety-conscious attitude with a desire to develop and embrace change for continuous improvement.
  4. Experience in the waste industry or high-volume production is advantageous but not essential.
