Overview of Project:

Provide break-fix support services (PHS&T) and technical triage, repair, and staging to DII Maritime Deployed environments.

Job Description including Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

This dynamic role provides direct support to the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels deployed globally. The position is for an MRC engineer, a key member of the ADELIE Service Management Teams, which manage the Remote Management of the DII(D) Infrastructure in the deployed military environment. The role is high-profile and requires close cooperation with the deployed CIS staff of the RN & RFA.

  • Must have or be willing to undergo Security Clearance.

  • 24/7 Service Desk
  • Desktop Infrastructure & Application Support
  • Server infrastructure support across disciplines
  • Network infrastructure support across disciplines
  • Point of escalation for third and fourth line
  • NOC & SOC Functions
  • Integrated Logistics Support & Obsolescence Management
  • Safety Engineering
  • ICT Build Support Services
  • Break Fix Services
  • Enterprise-level Service Management functions

The MRC engineers are vital to the ADELIE team, especially for break-fix services and integrated logistics support.

The primary task is to manage hardware replacement demands raised under break-fix by the RN/RFA CIS staff through the ADELIE material demand process, including:

  • Managing the local inventory management system (IMS) to ensure adequate stock levels
  • Staging equipment prior to issue to MOD supply chain
  • Triaging and repairing returned hardware for reuse
  • Conducting Power on tests
  • Ensuring software/OS are up to date
  • Conforming hardware to latest standards set by ILS
  • Updating test/staging documentation
  • Creating documentation for new hardware
  • Liaising with ILS upon hardware delivery
  • Notifying SDM for disposal arrangements of hardware

Candidate qualities include being self-motivated, able to work under pressure, flexible with work hours, proactive, communicative, willing to learn, and knowledgeable in:

  • Desktop Infrastructure including Windows and Unix Server Management
  • Microsoft Exchange and LCS Messaging Support
  • McAfee Security
  • CISCO device configuration
  • Supply Chain support
  • Previous military experience (not essential)
  • Distributed System Administration
