Job Description:

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a severely disabled gentleman in my mid-fifties.

Many years ago, I was offered a semi-disabled-adapted house in Llanharan by Cynon Taf Housing Association after a long wait, moving there after living with my parents near Pontypridd.

I have several health conditions affecting mobility, cognition, and memory, including strokes, epilepsy, angina, spinal issues, and mental health challenges.

I use an electric wheelchair and can drive my accessible van. A carer must be confident driving this vehicle and able to secure my wheelchair.

I have interests in IT, have run my own business, and enjoy watching rugby and participating in activities like snooker, darts, and archery.

Purpose of the Job

To support me at home with daily tasks, ensure my safety, and help me build confidence and routines.

Daily Tasks

  • Support with domestic tasks and personal care to ensure safety
  • Remind to take medication, wash, and eat
  • Assist with meal preparation and cooking
  • Transport me using your own car or public transport
  • Participate in activities and keep me company
  • Cover for other assistants if needed
  • Prompt medication for pain management

Person Specification

  • Reliable, flexible, confident, and committed
  • Respectful of privacy and confidentiality
  • Driver willing to use own car with mileage paid
  • Experience or willingness to learn about epilepsy and strokes
  • Ability to cover for other staff during absences

Hours of Work

42 hours per week, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings, with flexible scheduling.
