Job Description:

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a severely disabled gentleman in my mid-fifties.

Many years ago, I was offered a Cynon Taf Housing Association house in Llanharan, Rhondda Cynon Taff, which is a semi-disabled-adapted property and still is.

I moved there after living with my parents near Pontypridd. I have conditions affecting mobility, cognition, and memory, including strokes, epilepsy, angina, and spinal issues. I use an electric wheelchair and have a van I can drive. I need support for daily tasks, medication reminders, and assistance with outings and activities.

I am interested in IT, have run my own business, worked in forensic nursing, and as a funeral assistant. I enjoy company, quiet times, rugby, and new hobbies like wheelchair snooker, darts, archery, and shooting.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role involves supporting me at home with daily activities, safety, and confidence-building, including helping me with routines and introducing new interests.

DAILY TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Support with domestic tasks
  • Minimal personal care for safety
  • Reminding me to take medication, wash, and eat
  • Assisting with meal prep and outings
  • Keeping me company and participating in activities
  • Covering for other assistants if needed

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Reliable, flexible, confident, and committed
  • Mature, respectful, and discreet
  • Driver with own car, willing to use it for work
  • Experience or willingness to learn about epilepsy and strokes
