Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Moving and Handling Specialist Trainer/ Adviser to join our team. This is a part-time permanent post at band 6 for 15 hours per week. The closing date is 23 October 2025.

The successful candidate will support in the development of a comprehensive moving and handling service for all staff within the trust; joining a dynamic and friendly team who work hard to support the ongoing development of a positive health and safety culture within the trust.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a subject matter expert in moving and handling and have extensive experience gained in a healthcare setting. They will adapt their knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a wide variety of teams, be flexible, and open to developing new ways of working to meet changing needs and to make a real difference for the safety of both staff and patients.

  • Assist the moving and handling lead to develop policy and procedures to ensure legislative compliance
  • Maintain a key worker system to embed NHS E competency assessment and assist the trust in achieving compliance rates
  • Provide expert advice: assist managers with risk assessment and the development of safe systems of work and the assessment of patients with complex care needs
  • Undertake annual audits
  • Design and implement training to local needs
  • Work in partnership with Occupational Health, Harm Free, Control and Infection and Tissue Viability teams
  • Analyse and review all moving and handling incidents to identify trends and reduce recurrence; share best practice across the organisation
  • Evaluate and select appropriate equipment to enhance patient comfort and safety, including slings and transfer aids and the safe movement of inanimate objects
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by providing guidance, support, and training to staff at all levels
