Job summary

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a specialist nurse for the deep brain stimulation (DBS) service. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for movement disorders, teach colleagues, and support newly diagnosed patients and families.

The role includes nurse-led clinics, supervising colleagues, and contributing to service development with partners. Applicants should hold current NMC registration and a post-registration qualification.

Qualifications

• First level registered nurse with a diploma.
• Post-registration qualification, such as a clinical exam, neuro course or mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate care as needs change.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and treatment protocols.
• Work with other professionals and agencies on ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
• Involve patients, carers and relatives in planning and delivering care.
• Collect, evaluate and report information, keeping accurate patient records.
• Communicate with patients, carers and professionals across health and social services.
• Give specialist clinical advice to colleagues, patients and carers.
• Provide clinical supervision to nursing colleagues, individually or in groups.
• Provide education and training to other staff and facilitate reflective practice.
• Run or take part in nurse-led clinics giving information and support on the condition.
• Provide information, education and support to recently diagnosed patients and families.
• Monitor standards of care through benchmarking, audit and research, and contribute to service development

Education
