Job summary

A subsea engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Moulding Technician for their production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for mixing and pouring polyurethane and epoxy compounds while maintaining high safety standards. Attention to detail and chemical handling knowledge are crucial for this role, and training will be provided to the right candidate. This is a back shift position with specific working hours.

Qualifications

  • No Education criteria required.
  • Working with Epoxy and or Polyurethane preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with team members and team leaders to plan, mix and pour polyurethane and epoxy mixes.
  • Communicating information to peers and managers on a timely basis.
  • Interpreting technical engineering drawings to manufacture in-line with process specifications.
  • Manufacturing inserts and CDP of connector bodies / back-shells.
  • Adhering to PPE and cleanliness procedures.
  • Handling/storing chemicals adhering to health and safety procedures.

Hydro Group manufactures bespoke subsea cable and connector assembly engineering for the oil and gas, marine renewable energy and defence industries. We are certified to ISO 9001 and 14001:2015 to design and manufacture subsea electrical and optical connectors, electrical pressure hull penetrators, associated subsea electrical cable terminations, installation of electrical and optical connectors, specialist underwater and harsh environment electrical and optical composite cables, tethers and umbilicals.

This Vacancy is a Back Shift Position and will pay Back Shift Rates. Hours: Monday to Thursday 14:00 - 24:15

Moulding Technician

Position Summary

The Moulding Technician plays a vital role within the production team and is responsible for the preparation, mixing, and pouring of polyurethane and epoxy compounds in accordance with technical specifications. The mould shop technician ensures that all processes adhere to strict health, safety, and environmental standards. This role requires accurate interpretation of engineering drawings, effective communication with team members, and a strong focus on chemical handling protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • No Education criteria required
Experience:
  • Working with Epoxy and or Polyurethane preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Reclaiming moulds preferred but not essential
Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of health and safety guidelines

Job Responsibilities:
  • Liaising with team members and team leaders to plan, mix and pour polyurethane and epoxy mixes.

  • Manufacturing inserts and CDP of connector bodies / back-shells.
  • Adhering to PPE and cleanliness procedures and ensuring Staff entering the area do likewise.
  • Handling/storing chemicals adhering to health and safety procedures.
  • Deflash mould and label assemblies in line with drawing requirements.
  • Maintaining all equipment to proper standards on a regular basis.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure the working environment is Customer friendly at all times.
  • Assist with training and job or product awareness for other staff within the Group.
  • Maintain the Group management behaviours practices and equal opportunity policy.
  • Comply with any environmental responsibilities as identified by the Group and communicated by your line manager that are relevant within your department.
