Job summary

AbbVie UK in Greater London seeks an experienced engineer to lead tooling and process improvements in molding and extrusion. You will manage projects, coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a technical qualification and 5-7+ years of relevant experience, with strong analytical and communication skills. On-site manufacturing environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification in engineering/science or moulding.
• Degree level preferable or relevant experience.
• 5-7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with molding, extrusion and/or polymer processes and technologies.
• Strong analytical problem solving; statistics knowledge advantageous.
• Project management, product technology transfer/NPI and validation experience desirable.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Good working knowledge of quality systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is a benefit.

Responsibilities

• Partner with quality to ensure product attributes and performance meet specifications.
• Maintain day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance to keep equipment running.
• Liaise with Production to maximise equipment performance.
• Maintain records on Engineering Procedures and preventive/demand maintenance.
• Coordinate with internal/external engineering personnel and contractors for troubleshooting and commissioning.
• Technical design and project planning for new mould tools and processes.
• Integrate new injection mould tooling into manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical oversight on existing lines, investigate yields and quality trends.
• Prepare CAPA plans and implement to timelines.
• Lead projects against milestones.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Business Development, Customers, Suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Coordinate metrology measurements during product development phases.
• Decide mould design and steel adjustments to meet tight tolerances.
• Establish calibration, preventive maintenance and spare parts programmes.
• Ensure calibration and maintenance compliance.
• Ensure safety standards and safe working practices.
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Regulatory, GMP requirements and AbbVie policies.
• Participate in Risk Management activities as required.

Responsibilities

• To partner with quality to ensure product attributes and performance achieve all specifications.
• To ensure the performance of day to day preventative and demand maintenance activity to maintain manufacturing equipment.
• To liaise with Production to ensure equipment performance is maximised.
• To maintain records and documentation on relevant Engineering Procedures and preventative/ demand maintenance.
• To liaise with Internal/External Engineering Personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining trouble shooting, and installing/commissioning equipment.
• Technical design making and project planning for new mould tools and processes.
• Integration of new Injection Mould tooling and equipment in manufacturing processes.
• Technical oversight on existing lines, investigation yields and quality trends.
• Prepare appropriate CAPA plans and implement per timelines.
• Leading projects against agreed project milestones.
• Partnering with Marketing and Business Development, Customers Suppliers, Vendors and Internal Cross-Functional teams as required.
• Ensuring projects are delivered on-time and within budget according to business requirements.
• Coordination and analysis of metrology measurements during product development phases.
• Decision making on mould design and steel adjustments to meet tight tolerances.

Essential Requirements

• A relevant technical qualification in engineering/science/moulding.
• Degree Level preferable and or relevant experience.
• 5-7 years+ relevant experience.
• Experience Required Technical/Business Knowledge -Job Skills/Experience Required Demonstrated knowledge of molding, extrusion and/or polymer processes and technologies.
• Strong analytical problem solving skills; statistics knowledge/experience would be advantageous.
• Previous project/process management, product technology transfer /NPI and validation experience is desirable.
• Results driven with proven ability to prioritize work.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Good working knowledge of quality systems would be helpful.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential.
• Working knowledge of AutoCad and/or Solidworks is a benefit.
