Job Description:

The GM Motorsports Program is seeking a Race Strategy Analyst to develop and support race strategy tools for Sportscar events, including IMSA and WEC series. The role involves merging existing AI/ML-based tools, developing new models, and collaborating with various GM teams to optimize race outcomes and strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Apply data science and modeling techniques to develop race strategy tools.
  2. Refine existing AI/ML models and develop simulations for race scenarios.
  3. Create visualizations and prototypes for strategy insights.
  4. Collaborate with technical teams to implement and validate tools during races.
  5. Support multiple racing series by transferring and adapting analysis techniques.
  6. Work with internal and external teams to improve strategy software and analysis methods.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years experience in top-level motorsports series (NASCAR, IMSA, F1, IndyCar, WEC, etc.) and 2+ years developing strategy tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML modeling techniques.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to travel within the US (10%).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in tire modeling, simulation workflows, machine learning libraries, and big data tools.
