Job Description:

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring reporting to Concord, NC three times per week, with flexibility for weekend events supporting live race events.

The Role

GM Motorsports Program seeks a race strategy analyst to develop race strategy tools and support teams in Sportscar events. The role involves merging existing AI/ML-based race strategy tools for IndyCar, NASCAR, WEC, and IMSA series, and developing new models and visualizations to enhance decision-making during races.

Responsibilities include applying data science techniques to refine strategy tools, developing simulation platforms, creating tire degradation models, and collaborating with technical teams across GM series to implement and improve these tools.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and refine race strategy tools using data science and modeling techniques.
  • Enhance existing AI/ML models and develop new simulation platforms.
  • Create visualizations to communicate insights effectively.
  • Support in-race decision-making with real-time analysis.
  • Collaborate across teams to implement and improve tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years in top-level motorsports series and 2+ years developing strategy tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with AI/ML modeling and big data tools is preferred.
