Job Description

We are seeking a Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst to apply data science and modeling techniques to develop and refine race strategy tools, facilitating insightful pre-race planning and real-time decision-making during live race events.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine AI/ML models for motorsports applications, including Python codebase enhancements.
  • Create simulation platforms for Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Develop tire degradation models for accurate predictions.
  • Design and prototype visualizations to convey insights effectively, collaborating with IT and software teams for deployment.
  • Validate race strategy tools and collaborate with motorsports teams to implement and improve them.
  • Analyze vehicle pace, track conditions, and strategies to optimize race performance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within GM and its motorsports divisions to support race strategies and analytics.
  • Contribute to the development of race strategy software and transfer learning across different racing series.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years in top-level motorsports series with experience in strategy tools and analysis during races.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and big data tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
  • Experience in tire modeling and simulation workflows.
  • Knowledge of machine learning libraries and big data technologies.
Additional Information

This role requires reporting to Concord, NC three times a week, with flexibility for weekend events. Travel within the US is expected up to 10%. Relocation benefits may be available.
