Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week, with flexibility for weekend race events.

Responsibilities
  1. Apply data science and modeling techniques to develop race strategy tools for pre-race planning and live decision-making.
  2. Refine existing AI/ML models and develop simulations, including Monte Carlo and tire degradation models.
  3. Create visualizations to convey insights, collaborating with IT and software teams for implementation.
  4. Verify and improve race strategy tools, working with IMSA and WEC teams to derive insights.
  5. Address vehicle pace, track migration, traffic, and energy strategies to inform race decisions.
  6. Collaborate across GM teams to develop and support race strategy tools and models.
  7. Contribute to software development and transfer learning across different racing series.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  2. 5+ years in top-level motorsports series, with 2+ years developing or using strategy tools.
  3. Knowledge of motorsports race strategy, models, and analysis during live events.
  4. Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
  5. Familiarity with AI/ML techniques and industry applications.
  6. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with mentoring experience.
  7. Ability to travel within the US (~10%).
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
  2. Experience in tire modeling, simulation workflows, machine learning libraries, and big data tools.
