Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. This onsite role requires reporting to Concord, NC, full-time.

The Senior Mechatronics Engineer will develop mechatronic systems to enhance aerodynamics testing for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, design, develop, and optimize solutions, and contribute significantly to our competitiveness and innovation in motorsports.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and integrate complex mechatronic systems for automotive and aerodynamic testing.
  • Create detailed system architectures and specifications.
  • Work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to develop innovative solutions.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers, evaluate components, and select technologies.
  • Conduct system testing, analysis, and debugging for functionality and reliability.
  • Oversee prototype and production solutions, including mechanical design, PCB layout, firmware/software integration, and testing.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechatronics engineering with a proven track record.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary system design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA).
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and programming languages (C, C++, Python).
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, control systems, and power electronics.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, experience with automotive or motorsports testing, familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, and advanced skills in CAD and control systems.
