Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Processing Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. Your primary responsibility will be to develop complex data pipelines and data-processing systems to enhance our aerodynamics development activities for motorsport and high-performance production vehicles. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize solutions for technical challenges, contributing significantly to our competitiveness.

What You’ll Do
  1. Architect, design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  2. Collaborate with data engineers and other teams to integrate data from various sources and platforms.
  3. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality through automated validation and monitoring.
  4. Optimize data processing workflows for performance and reliability.
  5. Work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data solutions.
  6. Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
  7. Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java.
  • Experience with Kafka, Flink, Databricks.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems like SLURM, LSF.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective collaboration skills.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience in motorsports industry.
  • Knowledge of data governance, HPC, instrumentation, and live data streaming.
