Job Description:

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Processing Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. This onsite role requires reporting to Concord, NC, full-time. Your primary responsibility will be to develop complex data pipelines and systems to enhance aerodynamics development for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize solutions to technical challenges, contributing significantly to our competitiveness.

Responsibilities:

  1. Architect, design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  2. Collaborate with data engineers and other teams to integrate data from various sources, including on-prem and cloud databases, data lakes, APIs, and third-party vendors.
  3. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality through automated validation and monitoring.
  4. Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in data workflows.
  5. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into data solutions.
  6. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
  7. Prepare and present technical reports and specifications to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java.
  • Experience with Kafka, Flink, Databricks.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing management systems like SLURM, LSF.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience in motorsports industry.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy, security best practices.
  • Experience with HPC architecture and Data Acquisition systems.
  • Skills in developing Live Streaming data pipelines.
  • Understanding of aerodynamic testing and practices.
