Job Description:

The Senior Data Engineer will develop complex data pipelines and data-processing systems for the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. This onsite role reports to Concord, NC, and involves designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions to support motorsport and high-performance vehicle development.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Architecting and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
  2. Integrating data from multiple sources, including cloud and on-premise systems.
  3. Ensuring data quality and integrity through validation and monitoring.
  4. Optimizing data workflows for performance.
  5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet business needs.
  6. Writing clean, maintainable code following best practices.
  7. Preparing technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in data engineering or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java.
  • Experience with Kafka, Flink, Databricks, and distributed systems like SLURM, LSF.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience in motorsports industry.
  • Knowledge of data governance, HPC architecture, instrumentation, and live streaming data pipelines.
  • Understanding of aerodynamic testing.
