Job description

Group1 Brighton Motor Vehicle Technician Apprentice

Group1 Brighton is looking for a Motor Vehicle Technician Apprentice. Your role will involve working in a busy BMW/MINI workshop environment, where you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing motor vehicles to the high standards of the BMW/MINI brand.

All BMW Motor Vehicle Technician Apprentices attend the BMW Group Academy UK in Berkshire for their off-the-job training. This ensures consistent training throughout the UK and allows our apprentices to train on up-to-the-minute products and technology. The training takes place over a 3-year period and includes classroom and workshop sessions.

The course is unique to BMW, with a special emphasis on electronics and cutting-edge technology. Your training will include the opportunity to work on the latest:

  • Cars
  • Engines and BMW diagnostic equipment

Ultimately, this will lead to the ability to undertake:

  • Maintenance
  • Service
  • Repair activities on vehicles to the highest standards once fully qualified

Future prospects: On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will continue your development on the BMW Technical Programme.

Things to consider: Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the BMW Group Academy in Berkshire to complete their training. Training is completed in one-week blocks approximately once every two to three months. All training costs are covered by the BMW Retailer (travel, accommodation, and food).

About the employer: All Motor Vehicle Technician, Aftersales Customer Service (Parts & Service), and Motorcycle Technician Apprentices will be employed at their local BMW Retailer and will attend the BMW Group Academy for training. The BMW Group Academy is based at Wokefield Park near Reading in Berkshire. Bodyshop Technician (Paint & Panel) Apprentices will be employed at their local BMW Retailer or Bodyshop, with training at the body training facility located in Milton Keynes.

  • IMI Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigeration Handling
  • IMI Level 2 Award in Electric / Hybrid Vehicle
  • IMI Accreditation Service Maintenance Technician

Apprenticeship standard: Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician (light vehicle). Applications are being processed by BMW Group Academy.

During your time at the Retailer, a mentor will oversee your work-based learning. A BMW representative will visit every 12 weeks to set performance targets and support your development.
