Qualifications

  • Doit avoir une connaissance spécialisée des systèmes électriques & des composants mécaniques des véhicules.
  • Connaissance des systèmes de diagnostic basés sur ordinateur.
  • Capacité à établir des diagnostics de pannes sans accès aux équipements de diagnostic.

Responsibilities

  • Participer à l'entretien et à la réparation de la flotte de véhicules.

Fleet Vehicle Workshops – Workington Workshop

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Motor Vehicle Technicians to join our ever-expanding Fleet workshop teams, working as part of Fleet Operations at North West Ambulance Service.

The current vacancy is at our Workington Workshop.

This diverse and satisfying technical role offers significant job satisfaction, balanced with modern working conditions and a focus on work / life balance underpinned by a commitment to ensure our teams have suitable training and support to complete any task presented to them.

NWAS Fleet Operations sits within the wider NHS umbrella and provides the vital support service to our significantly sized ambulance fleet.

Main duties of the job

Our technicians are supported by a dedicated management team structure, ensuring our team has everything available to maximize vehicle through put and reduce workshop delays and supply chain frustrations.

With over 1150 vehicles across the entire Fleet, each day offers variety, and the opportunity for our technicians to enjoy their working environment with likeminded people.

Enhanced payment is applicable for any weekend working.

Operational requirements for the workshops cover 365 days of the year, with opening times being 08.00am to 16:00pm Monday to Friday

Working for our organisation

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Person specification

Qualifications and Education

  • City and Guilds certificate in motor vehicle technology or NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications and experience
  • Good standard of education. Minimum 3 GCSE or equivalent.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Driving Licence C1 + D1 (Work towards).
  • MOT Tester.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.
  • Able to communicate across wide demographic boundaries in an appropriate manner
  • Strong management, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Respects and applies patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Able to operate all equipment safely and in accordance with Trust policy, procedures and protocols.

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of protection and understanding of confidentiality requirements.
  • Specialist knowledge of vehicle systems.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle Electrical components.
  • PC literate.
  • Knowledge of software systems related to diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.

Knowledge and Experience

  • The post holder must have specialist knowledge of motor vehicle electrical systems & mechanical components.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a range of computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems and the ability to analyse and interpret the information presented by the systems to determine the most appropriate repair option.
  • Have the ability to diagnose all other vehicle faults without access to diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience of working with Vehicle Fleet Management Systems.
