Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a dedicated Motor Vehicle Teacher to join our Yorkshire-based FE provider. You will deliver engaging theoretical and practical motor vehicle sessions to learners pursuing industry-recognised qualifications, starting in July 2026 on a permanent basis.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical background directly in the classroom and workshop. You will plan practical sessions aligned with current industry standards, assess learner progress, and help

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle (or equivalent) required.
• Significant experience working in the motor vehicle industry.
• Relevant industry qualifications in motor vehicle maintenance or repair.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners.

Motor Vehicle Teacher

Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 per annum

About the Role

You’ll join a further education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber, delivering motor vehicle teaching to learners working towards industry‑recognised qualifications. This is a permanent post starting in July 2026, offering the chance to bring your technical background into the classroom and workshop.

You’ll plan and deliver engaging, practical sessions that reflect current industry standards, supporting learners to build the hands‑on skills and knowledge employers expect.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering theoretical and practical motor vehicle lessons to further education learners.


• Assessing learner progress and providing constructive, timely feedback.


• Preparing learners for assessments and industry‑recognised qualifications.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle (or equivalent)


• Significant experience working in the motor vehicle industry


• Relevant industry qualifications in motor vehicle maintenance or repair


• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one


• Previous experience teaching or training in a further education setting
