Job summary

Dovetail and Slate Ltd is seeking a Motor Mechanics Tutor for an education provider in the justice sector, delivering practical motor mechanics training within a prison education setting. You will help learners gain practical skills, confidence and qualifications to progress into employment and shape brighter futures.

You will deliver engaging lessons to small groups with varied backgrounds, assess progress, and maintain records while embedding employability skills into the curriculum.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in motor vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience in vocational education or teaching desirable.
• Ability to engage learners with diverse educational needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver motor mechanics sessions and qualifications to groups of learners.
• Assess, review and track learner progress.
• Maintain accurate course and learner records.
• Embed employability and workplace skills into the curriculum.
• Support learners to achieve and progress towards employment.

About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring Motor Mechanics Tutor to join an education provider in the justice sector, delivering meaningful vocational learning within a prison education setting. This is a unique opportunity to support learners on their rehabilitation journey, helping them build the practical skills, confidence and qualifications needed to progress into employment and shape brighter futures.

You'll deliver engaging and inclusive motor mechanics lessons to small groups of learners with a wide range of educational backgrounds, learning needs and abilities. Many of your learners will have had difficult experiences of education, so patience, empathy and a genuine belief in each individual's potential will matter as much as your technical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering motor mechanics sessions and qualifications to groups of learners.
• Assessing, reviewing and tracking learner progress.
• Maintaining accurate course and learner records.
• Embedding employability and workplace skills into the curriculum.
• Supporting learners to achieve and progress towards employment.

What We're Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 qualification in motor vehicle maintenance, or equivalent, with industry experience
• An expert in your field with substantial vocational experience
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Genuine passion for learner development

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching or assessing qualification
