Goulburn Motor Group in Shepparton, Victoria is now looking to hire a motivated individual to join their successful team as a Motor Mechanic. They are an automotive group that deals with motor brands such as Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, Jaguar, LDV and Land Rover.
The Role
As Automotive Motor Mechanic, it is essential that you have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner.
The annual salary is set at $73,150 to $80,000 plus superannuation, based on experience and will be based in Shepparton, Victoria.
The Responsibilities
- Test parts and diagnosing various systems and performing corrective repairs to ensure that they are working properly
- Identify mechanical problems, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment
- Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
- Test and lubricate the vehicle's engine and other major components
- Perform basic care and maintenance, including oil changes, tuneups, and tire rotations
- Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads and wheel bearings
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
- Use testing equipment to ensure that repairs and maintenance are effective
- Explain to clients their automotive problems and the repairs done on their vehicles and suggest estimates
- Explain to the front office manager about the fault and decide the repair budget for repairs needed for company owned vehicles
- Provide quotation and carry out repair work on vehicles which are not company owned vehicles as the business gets work through internal references
- Perform various physical duties which can include, but are not limited to, bending, stooping, reaching, laying down, twisting, lifting and carrying various-sized and weighted objects
- Performing tune-ups, weld equipment and other metals, and maintaining files about their repair work
- Explain work performed to front staff so they can record all the work in system
- Operating a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools
- Repairing brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle, steering, and related systems
- Complying with the safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe and friendly working environment
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
- Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and to determine whether any other problems exist
The Requirements:
- Minimum AQF Certificate III & desirable Certificate IV in Automotive Light Vehicle & Diagnosis
- At least 2 years of relevant experience after trade qualification in a commercial dealership workshop setting
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working on Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, Audi, Jaguar, LDV and Land Rover vehicles OR in any of these vehicles on a consistent basis using factory supplied tools and equipment
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working with Asian and Intercontinental automotive models
- Experience working with mechanical systems
- Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment
- Good with hand and power tools
- Capacity to solve issues / problems and find suitable resolutions
- Excellent work ethic and ability to strive for goals
- Hold a current driver's license and able to drive manual car
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
