Job summary

Anakin Seal Legal in Birmingham is seeking an Assistant Lawyer to develop expertise in motor crime within a national Crime & Regulatory team. You will support investigations, attend police stations, courts and client meetings while handling complex cases and maintaining strong client relationships.

The role offers hybrid working with regular Birmingham office attendance, a salary up to £52,000 dependent on experience, and a clear path for career development in a specialist practice area.

Qualifications

• Experience in criminal law, either in private practice or a related legal environment.
• A genuine interest in motor crime and regulatory work.
• Strong communication and client care skills.
• The ability to manage sensitive and often challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
• Police Station Accreditation (desirable but not essential).
• A proactive and team-focused approach with a desire to develop their career within a specialist practice area.

Responsibilities

• Assisting on complex motor crime and regulatory investigations.
• Attending client meetings, police stations, courts and client premises.
• Supporting clients during interviews under caution.
• Liaising with witnesses, experts, counsel and external agencies.
• Assisting with case preparation and progression from investigation to conclusion.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Gradually developing your own caseload with ongoing support and supervision.
