Job summary

HiQ Tyres & Autocare in Ipswich is seeking a dedicated MOT Tester Technician for a full-time permanent role, Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:30pm with a half-day finish on Saturdays. Salary depends on experience and will reflect your MOT testing expertise and vehicle service skills.

You will test, inspect, service, and repair a range of vehicles, maintain safety standards, complete paperwork, and stay updated on MOT regulations. Benefits include training opportunities and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• MOT Testing experience essential
• Hands-on mechanical experience with hand and power tools
• Experience in fast-fit or franchise vehicle centre preferred
• UK driving licence with minimal points (<=9)

Responsibilities

• Carry out MOT tests on various vehicles in line with legal requirements.
• Perform diagnostics, servicing and repairs as needed.
• Maintain vehicle components: brakes, tyres, alignment, exhausts, lights and steering.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Ensure health and safety standards and company procedures are followed.
• Complete any store administration tasks and stock checks as required.

Job description

HiQ Tyres & Autocare has an exciting new opportunity for a MOT Tester Technician to join our team in Ipswich. The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis, Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm – half a day finish on a Saturday, salary depending on experience.

What you will be doing as a MOT Tester Technician:

• Work on all makes and models of vehicles

• Perform diagnostics, servicing, and repairs

• Handle brakes, tyres, and wheel alignment

• Inspect vehicle components, including brakes, lights, steering, and exhaust systems.

• Conduct MOT tests on various types of vehicles, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

• Use hand tools and power tools effectively to perform necessary repairs or adjustments.

• Document test results accurately and provide feedback to vehicle owners regarding any issues found.

• Stay updated on changes in MOT regulations and testing procedures.

• Always maintain health and safety standards, working within company guidelines and safe working practices.

• Complete job cards, maintenance records, and associated paperwork to a high standard

• To undertake any additional duties (within reason) for the efficient running of the Store.

• To carry out administration duties as required within the store.

• Assist in carrying out regular stock checks in accordance with Company Policy.

What you will need:

• Experience within a in a fast-fit car centre or a recognised vehicle franchise dealership.

• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools.

• A valid MOT Tester licence is essential.

• Vehicle technician qualification and relevant experience.

• Must have a full driver’s licence with no more than 9 points.
