Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a reputable main dealership in Burton upon Trent for an MOT Tester/Prep Technician role. You will perform vehicle preparation, conduct DVSA MOT tests, and benefit from manufacturer training and a strong earning potential.

The role offers a 40-hour week (Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00) with Saturday mornings on a rotation and overtime paid at time and a half; starting salary £30,000 with a productivity bonus up to £3,000 and an OTE £35,000+.

Qualifications

• Valid MOT Tester Licence is required.
• Experience as a Prep Technician or Vehicle Technician preferred.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle preparation on used vehicles to high standards.
• Carry out MOT testing in accordance with DVSA regulations.
• Carry out routine servicing including oil and filter changes.
• Replace consumables and service parts as needed.
• Maintain accurate workshop documentation and records.
• Keep the workshop clean, safe and organized.

Benefits for the successful MOT Tester:

• Starting salary of £30,000 per annum

• Working hours of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
• 1 in 2 Saturday mornings (8:00am - 12:00pm) paid at overtime rates

Duties of the MOT Tester:

• Perform vehicle preparation work on used vehicles to high standards
• Conduct MOT testing in accordance with DVSA regulations
• Carry out routine servicing, including oil and filter changes
• Replace consumable items such as oil filters and other service parts
• Conduct vehicle health checks and identify additional work needed
• Ensure all work complies with manufacturer standards
• Maintain accurate workshop documentation and job records
• Keep the workshop area clean, safe, and organised

Requirements of the MOT Tester:

• Valid MOT Tester Licence
• Prior experience as a Prep Technician or Vehicle Technician
• Confident in providing servicing and vehicle preparation
• Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Positive attitude and team-oriented approach
